Customised training: Fami industrial furnishing systems for Wiener Linien

Wiener Linien is Vienna’s leading public transport operator. It manages the most extensive railway system in the Austrian capital, including the underground, buses and trams, and guarantees fast, safe transport.

The hub which brings together the company’s maintenance departments, located in Vienna’s Simmering district, houses different workshops laid out over 60,000 m², where the essential repair, testing and maintenance tasks are performed.

As a leading company in Vienna, Wiener Linien occupies a fundamental role in the training of new generations of professionals. It recently created a new campus that can host over 200 apprentices, featuring avant-garde buildings designed to offer comprehensive practical training.

The new Apprentice Workshop 2.0 has been designed to boost sustainability, employing energy-efficient construction methods and environmentally friendly materials. The basement has been built using recycled concrete, while the ground floor and second floor feature a solid wood structure. The building is heated by geothermal energy. The modern classrooms, laboratories and meeting rooms are located on the first floor while the workshops and hi-tech machine rooms are on the ground floor, featuring latest technologies and instrumentation.

Communal open spaces foster collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

In this advanced training environment, every apprentice has access to modern instruments and ergonomic workstations to ensure the best training and learning conditions.

A changing room area has also been set up for the apprentices where they can store their personal property, work and personal clothes in a clean and tidy setting.

Fami Srl, a partner of Wiener Linien since 2001, is undoubtedly key partner in this project. Fami has added value to the development of the Apprentice Workshop 2.0 by supplying 200 height-adjustable workstations with drawers, as well as industrial lockers for the changing rooms.

The workstations have been designed to meet the specific needs of each apprentice, providing an efficient, comfortable work area, suitable for both individual work and team learning.

The changing-room lockers are made of steel metal sheet with a variable number of compartments, partitions for clean/dirty clothing and accessories.
