Cabinets for chemicals : benefits and features
Safe, compliant collection
Ecology cabinets must be fitted with specific solutions that allow the collection and containment of liquids and substances stored in them. Perfom safety cabinets for chemicals can have either internal or external trays to fulfil this obligation. The former are installed inside the cabinets under the shelves with drainage holes or can be used as shelves with a 9 or 19-litre capacity depending on the size. The external trays, on the other hand, are only compatible with cabinets with hinged doors and are positioned at the bottom of the cabinet, in place of the base cover. They can hold 59 litres. The tanks are made of special materials to make them suitable for holding flammable liquids in categories GHS 1-3 or water-polluting liquids in categories GHS 1-4.
Hinged or sliding doors
Laboratory cabinets are available with both hinged and sliding doors. The use of one or the other solution depends above all on where the cabinet is installed: if it is placed in cramped areas or passageways, it is advisable to opt for sliding doors which are not obstructed during opening and ensure the same storage capacity. It is important that the chosen door is fitted with vents to ensure air circulation and prevent potentially toxic fumes from building up inside the cabinet. It is also possible to opt for doors for the chemical product cabinet fitted with vents and a polycarbonate insert to provide full view of the stored contents.
Easy transportation
The bases for pallet trucks with a front cover can be installed on Perfom cabinets for chemicals with hinged doors instead of the external watertight tank. The base raises the unit off the floor preventing the build-up of dust and dirt and allowing it to be moved with the company premises. Once the front cover has been removed, forks can be inserted to pick up the laboratory cabinet with a pallet truck or forklift truck.
