Automated robots for increasingly sustainable, precise and rapid painting
Maintaining a high standard in the production of metal furniture has always been one of our main objectives. For this reason, over the years we have continuously invested in our production department, introducing new machinery such as laser or cutting-edge painting systems to ensure quality, sustainable and ergonomic production for the operator.
This is the scenario in which the Epistolio S.r.l. anthropomorphic robots have been working with operators along the powder coating line since November 2024. In particular, two are positioned at the entrance and the exit of the painting booth, while the third dries the pieces coming out of the wash. Easy to program via self-learning, they memorise the movements that the operator normally performs and repeat them in sequence. Once the item to be painted has been identified via TAGs (transponders) using an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) read-write system, the robot proceeds with painting by faithfully reproducing the movements that the operator would perform manually.

The use of these automations has many benefits both in terms of production and of worker health. First of all, it is possible to optimise production (+15%) thanks to a better management of the powder coating (-20% waste) and to an increase in operating precision. The mobility of the robotic arm, in fact, allows reaching difficult or uncomfortable sections for the operator, ensuring quick and easy painting of objects with complex shapes. Second, but no less important, workers can handle less tiring and healthier activities, such as the quality control of the painted products and the management and optimisation of the painting cycles.
The robots are constantly connected to the internet and interface with the management system for real-time supervision and control of the painting process, so as to be able to analyse statistical data and make any changes for maintenance.
